ROYAL ROADS UNIVERSITY JAPANESE GARDENS SITE MAP

MAP DESIGN

A refined and clarified cartographic update that respects the character of an existing map while improving its legibility and visual coherence.

As part of Royal Roads University's plan to restore the Japanese Gardens, an updated site map was developed to clearly communicate existing conditions, proposed improvements, and areas to be renewed, enhanced, or protected. The work focused on colour palette refinement, typographic consistency, path hierarchy, and a simplified labelling system — reducing visual clutter while keeping the map intuitive and visually integrated.
